The iEdge card is the worthy successor to the Edge card for the DS Lite generation of DS console. It took longer for the Edge team to come out with a DSi compatible card, but the quality shows in everything from the physical build to the packaging, to the incredibly stable menu software. It will serve the needs of all DSi users well.
The iEdge comes in the familiar triangular packaging that was made famous by its previous card, along with a micro sd usb adapter. There is a top loading spring-free slot for the micro sd card and thick matte label. Currently, all iEdge cards are white, whereas the Edge card came in black and white flavors. The packaging makes this card a great gift and an unusual look.
The menu software for the iEdge is modeled on the original R4 menu with three icons; Game, Media, and Settings. The game icon takes you to a list of files and folders on the micro sd card where the user selects their game rom.nds or homebrew.nds file. The Media button requires a moonshell homebrew app created for the iedge package to be installed, it will load up and allow you to play your media files. Trying to access any media files through the Game button directory listing will not allow them to play. They have to be run through the moonshell app. The settings button allows access to brightness, cheats, and booting to a slot-2 device for NDS Original and NDS Lite consoles.
A full feature set is available on the iEdge similar to that of a more expensive card. The firmware is flashable in case Nintendo comes out with yet another firmware update that blocks the card. Also available is slow motion, soft reset, wide game compatibility, and SDHC micro sd support up to 32GB. Stability is rock solid and few problems will be encountered in using the iEdge.
There was a recent rush of fake iEdge cards hitting the market, so make sure to only get them from reputable dealers like http://www.dscardworld.com. They are US based on shipping and support and will provide a genuine and individually tested iEdge.
